This stuff is all in great condition. I'm not sure if any of this contains info i'm not suppose to post (or shouldn't). I was too lazy to try and figure out how to censor over stuff..

Ah, back in the good old days when you could buy a decent RWD V8 for not a lot of money. Good thing the car was upgraded to the LG4 option, putting a 305 4bbl under the hood. Never cared for those early 3.8s.

Yeah i know. My little 305 is slow as is but i can't even imagine having an underpowered 2bbl V6 of all things!! I was kind of disappointed my grandparents didn't get the 350..but looking back at all these papers, did they even offer the 350 for my year? They list the 350 diesel so is that the only 350 they offered in that year?

what happened with that brake problem ?
Glad you mentioned that. I think i still have a problem. The brakes just plain don't feel good. I thought i was safe because there was a lot of meat left on the pads but that doesnt matter. They squeak just about every time i put my foot on the brake. Its a wierd situation because i often get that slight clunk noise coming from the front that i mentioned earlier. And when i was on the highway the front left wheel started squeaking out of control going around a bend for a few seconds when my foot wasn't even on the brake. I REALLY have to replace those pads ASAP as i'm digging myself a bigger hole every time i drive. I think i have to get my rotors turned "i think thats what they call it" before i do that though. but i might need to get all new rotors :frown: . Its abnormally warm around here right now so i think i better get on it while i can. :p

Went out for a ride to test the brakes. Looked at all the replies again. I think i've diagnosed at least one (more) part of the problem. I remember someone mentioned in a recent post that theres this rubber thing which pulls the pad back when you take your foot off the brake..i think those need to be replaced. I was driving along, stepped on the brake to slow down a bit, took my foot off, about 1-2 seconds later i started hearing squeaking which lasted for about 3-4 seconds then it went away. I repeated the process several times and the results are the same. So i think this is where the pad(s) were just barely touching the rotor as they slowly move back. And unlike before, when i'm slowing to a stop, between 10-0mph the brakes squeak all the time.

first you inspect, then you correct, then you test...
you already know the brakes are f**ked up...when inspecting use the info provided to make the determination as to what the problem is ....also those weather seals on the caliper are not available ,,,you will need a new/scrap yard caliper replacement...

From 1981 through 1992, the 350 (LM1/L05) engine was only available in light trucks or 9C1 cars, and even then only to governments (you could actually walk in off the street and order a 9C1 for yourself as long as you got the 305 or V6). This was due to CAFE requirements - offering the 350 in the civilian version of the cars would push the CAFE rating down below the minimum. You could also get the Corvette with a 350 (obviously), but that was a different engine solely using fuel injection from 1982 on.
