Brake Noise

My wife has a 2000 Grand Marquis and when ever she hits the brake pedal it sounds weird. As my daughter says it sounds like her brake pedal is farting. The other day the ABS light did come on but then went out I took it to a shop today and the mechanic said it sounds like the ABS motor and was dealer only cost 1000.00 and up. He said just drive it, it won't hurt anything you just won't have the ABS system. Does anyone have any ideas on this as how to test the system unplug it or what thanks

You need to hve the ABS system checked with a scan tool. If you can get a code number we can help you fix the problem. A lot of times the problem is just bad wheel speed sensor. Let us know.
