when i run engine for 5 minutes, switch off, then restart its fine------its just when i run it for longer thats when the starter whizzes

I had a real weird problem with an old Audi~ wouldn't run when it was dark. After fiddling around with things , I discovered that-after the ambient air temperature fell below 90F ( I live in Phoenix, Az. and this happened in the summer when daytime highs reach 115F), it quit. Turned out to be a fuel pump relay that didn't like it below 90F!! I believe that you have something that doesn't like to start when the engine temp is hot. Don't know enough about the system off hand to point you in the right direction but I think it is a temperqture related problem.

thanks broken-wrench, i think your right, it is temperature related but i have no idea what is causing it not to start when warm!
