'03 cavalier brake light

I have a '03 cavalier and the brake light keeps going out after I put a new bulb in the socket. It will go out after I touch the brake pedal a couple of times. The bulb won't burn out it just quits working. I take the bulb out and put it back in again and it will work for a couple of times and it will quit again. What could be causing this to happen? I don't know if I need to change the socket or if there is a wiring problem in my system.

sounds like it's loosing ground you may want to clean it or replace the socket itself shouldn't cost you that much either..good luck...
