I am building my first subwoofer box and had a few questions about the port. Does this port go on the side? What material the pipe should be made of and how to put install the port in the box. This is the picture that I have of the owners manual that I am going to build.

looks like the port is going to the right in the diagram. You normally put the port on a side, NOT on the front where the sub is. You can use PVC pipe for the port, get it at most any hardware store - just make sure it's the right diameter. There are also places that sell purpose made ports that are probably a LOT easier to install into the box.

When I install the port, do I have to support it or how would that work??

I guess it depends on what kinda material you use for the port. I have only built one ported box in my whole life but it seems that if you cut the whole a little undersized and just file it down till the port fits you shouldn't have to.

So now I have finished the box and am wondering what I should do to cover it. What would happen if I put dynamat on the outside of the box? If dynamat doesn't work I going to use truck box liner.
