:banghead: 01 malibu had tune up and erg valve replaced today. tested twice for transmition trouble and nothing. engine light is still on . when i give it gas it just stays at about 20 to 30 mph. it has a soft rumble when i force the gas. feels like car is moving in slow motion, and it jerks but when it decides to pick up it takes off. i would love the advice, q&a. i need someone to tell me something before i spend more money. anyone with any ideas?

Have Auto Zone or what ever parts house will read codes and post them here.
However it does sound like a catalytic converter problem. The codes should tell.

Plugged cat will normaly not set off a trouble code. I just went thru all that, put your hand over the tailpipe, does it feel like hardly any exhaust is getting out? I'll bet its the cat.

The catalytic converter being restricted or an exhaust restriction somewhere in the exhaust is a good call. There's some knowledgable people on here. Too much exhaust back pressure would cause the engine to not want to excelerate plus it would make sense that it could set off the EGR code. About the only other thing that could cause this is a fuel supply problem and that would most likely set off a different code.
