Hi all,
I have owned my 2000 Maxima for about 1 1/2 yrs. now and I just recently found out that the Bose Sub Woofer is not working. I had never paid attention to it, I just figured it was working. Has anybody else had this problem or know what might be wrong? The woofer it's self seems fine, but there is no sound coming out of it. I don't know if it's the amp or what. I would really appreciate any help!!!
p.s. my car also came with a sony 10 disc cd changer, can that have anything to do with it?

if you can pop it out, do so and check the leads running to it, also check the leads running from the amp, and, if possible, cross check the amp by hooking up another speaker to it... this should help you narrow down the problem.
I had a problem much like that with my JL in a ported box, I thougth I had blown the speaker or had my amp go, but it turned out to be as simple as the lead that runs from the box wall to the speaker itself. Maybe something just rattled loose.

I opened it this weekend and all the cables seem fine, but I will try to hook-up another speaker to see if it works, I don't know that I could try another amp though to see if that's the problem.

"is there any way I can upgrade my bose system?"
BOSE system:
-If you want to put a head unit in and/or add another amp you may have to get an adapter to bypass the amps that are connected to each speaker in the system. the bose radios have individual amps for each speaker.
-If you replace the head unit and the interior speakers you will not need this part.
Recommendations:
-ditch the entire bose system because it is not as good as it is made out to be. the woofers are paper which pretty much are generic. the head unit is your average piece of shit.
-put components in the front, coaxials in the rear running off of a 4 channel amp. add 1 sub (about 250-350 watts) with its own amp, a decent head unit with 3 sets of outputs and your system will be sick. you are looking at about 5-6 hours of work if your gonna do it yourself. if your in the north jersey area i do systems cheap and i have expierence with the maxima so youre in good hands.
