I have no idea

I know nothing about cars beyond putting gas in it. after waking up to a flat tire I replaced it with a spare. drove. then, I filled the flat with air to see if it would hold and wanted to put it back on the car while I was jacking it up this time, it seemed like the axle wouldn't raise with the rest of the car and when I tried to pull the tire off, the car slipped off the jack. Now, the axle wont raise with the rest of the car, and I can't get either tire on. What is broken?
