98 chevy 1500 2wd 5.0L The cruise setting can't hold the speed. Is there a vacuum servo diaphragm or what else might be wrong and where?

unless it's electrical or direct vacuum - track your CC cable back, should be a pear shaped - roughly - canister. it should have diaphragm in it, smilar to brake booster. check vacuum hose on it, that might be leaking too. or simply clogged.

My version of CC is a cable going into a box with a relay and stepper motor along with a circuit board. I took the cover off and don't see anything wrong or binding things up. No vacuum in this model.

Here are some of the units involved in the CC
1. Wiring
2. CC switch
3. CC Module (where the throttle cable goes)
4. VSS and buffer
5. VCM
6. Stop Lamp Sw and/or clutch sw
7. 4 1/2 pages of trouble shooting!!

Public libraries (factory service manuals), Autozone.com, Helms.com, etc.

I think the problem is in CCSwitch.
