Hello to all, I am new to this forum. I have been doing a lot of reading on here and find the advice very usefull.

I was hoping to get some more info on removing and replacing the front left fender on a 97 regal with 3.8 supercharged. My brother was over earlier in the week for a late night visit and on his way out of my laneway, he hit my neighbours car. The damage was mainly on the fender, also he just hit the front lens on the marker side. I am contemplating on saving him $150 + tax and just replace it myself. I have removed the front end on my 94 golf (bumper, grille, fenders, hood, and front doors) So it isn't my first rodeo, so to say.

Thanks in advance for any help.

George

Welcome to AF.

It is not that difficult and the process is similar for most late model cars. The best thing to do is safely jack up the driver's side and use a jackstand. Remove the wheel because you will need to remove the inner plastic fender splash guards to get to the fasteners at the front of the fender that hold the fender to the bumper skin. Remove the headlamp. Lift hood. Then remove the 5 bolts that hold the fender to the inner apron. 2 of the 5 bolts are part of the hood hinge and secure the hood. So the hood will be a factor and will need to be held or secured once those are removed. Remove any sound deadening material at the part of the fender closest to driver 's door and there should be a few more bolts or fasteners that need to be removed. After that fender should come off. On install be sure the replacement fender is aligned properly especially at the area where the driver's door closes. Should be a proper gap so the door doesn't hit the fender.

Thanks Bnaylor, worked out exactly as you described.
