power window issue

just purchased a 2002 JGC laredo. the driver side does not move. if i press the switch i do hear the motor moving but the window just remains still. do i need a new regulator?

what could this be?

In a word, yes. There are many online aftermarket vendors that sell the regulator assembly cheaper than the OEM.
