Okay I have asked this question a couple times before, once in a single thread, and twice in a power window thread. but here is my question, I have the power locks in my car, now when press the button I can hear something click inside the door, but the locks wont lock. The only time it worked was about a month ago, it worked one night, and stoped working the next. But if anyone has any info on this i would appreciate it a lot. Thanks

Did you try opening your door panel and see what's wrong? The door lock motor is attached to a bar that pushes and pulls to lock and unlock your door. The screw holding the bar could've been stripped or came loose.

I am right there with you. My power door locks have never worked properly, and I've driven the car 75,000 miles.
Sometimes, they will mysteriously activate when I'm driving down the road just to show me the CAN, if they f**kin' feel like it.
Anybody got any knowledge to share?

I got a question for you guys. Do your power door locks work fine when the door is closed, but wont lock when they are open? If so, you need to pull the handle inside the door while hitting the lock at the same time. My moms accord used to do this and it took us a while to figure out why.

Thanks, Melt.
I'll give it a shot!

Yeah...that's Honda's attempt at idiot proofing the car so you don't accidentally lock the door with it open and then shut it . You have to pull the handle (either works...outside too) on the driver's door to lock the driver's door (or flip the switch if you have power locks)

the funny thing is when I got my civic, I expected the power locks to do the same shit, but they just lock no matter what.

What im saying is with my moms accord, you have to pull the handle while hitting the lock button. In my civic, all I need to do is hit lock and it will lock, nothing further is needed.

Ha ha, well now it works thanks guys. Easier for me now instead of unlocking all the doors for when people get in.

Alarm is the best ... I still am mad that I had to get it because of my hood, but I must say that being able to walk up to the car and just hit unlock comes in handy quite often, especially when I am carrying a lot of shit or if it is raining.

Sooo...what was the solution? Mine are tempermental too (1990 Civic LX); from the driver's side they won't lock or unlock the other 3 doors; and from the outside they won't automatically lock the other 3 doors when i lock the driver's door. then of course, at some random time all will work fine.

pretty much you take off the door panel and look for a bar that should have another bar hooked up to it. You really cant miss it since one of them are hooked up to your lock. Look for a little metal piece thats connecting them together. There might be a screw missing or loose. Should only take 10 mins or so.
I got a 89 hb si and it didnt come with it so i got an aftermarket kit and put it in. It took about 9 years for the screws to get loose. Last weekend i took off my panels saw the screws on the bottom of my door and just put them back in. Works fine now.
Also i bought a alarm at circuit city for $65 and they installed it for free. Power door locks, kill switch and power trunk. GG employee discount.
