1973 Sierra Lightswitch Removal

I want to take the cover over the gauges in my 73 Sierra, but I can't get the knob off of the rod that connects to the switch. I thought it would just pull off but it won't no matter how much force I use.

Also how to I get the window crank handle off to get the door panel off?

Remove the switch, there is a button to depress as you pull the knob/shaft out. There is a tool tool pop the clip off the handle, any parts store has it.
