Hey all, as ya's can see this is my 1st post here, so here goes!

I've got a 01/02 Lancer Limited Edition Sedan, i wanna get new wheels & have been told that 18x7.5inch will fit on the car without rubbing, what is everyone here's opinion?

Thanks in advance!

Update: I've actually now been told that on my model lancer you can actually fit 18x9's without scrubbing (after rolling the wheel arches).

But due to Australian & State regulations, the max i am allowed to go & stay legal is 7inch's wide.... Which leaves me being stuck with 17x7's, which for the model wheel i want will take about 4 weeks to come in (actually, i was told it would be 4 weeks, back in january, when i rung the place today to see what was happening with it, i was told the suppliers are still saying another 4 weeks before they arrive in australia).

Oh wells, just have to play the waiting game i guess....

Whats so surprising about Australia?

Nah its not a EVO, i think the US equivalent of the Australian Lancer would probably be the Mirage Sedan.... Man it would make things soo much easier if they called cars the same names everywhere....

See my avatar & pic in my profile for what my car looks like.... (still stock standard at the moment, but yeh like i said, its a "Limited Edition" model, they only made during november 2001. Came with alloy's, factory bodykit, chrome tip exhaust, alarm, remote central locking, sports dash, sports grill etc...)

There's the same Lancer in the US now.

All the pic's of the US lancers i have seen are the "LS" model shape (well, its called the LS in australia anyways). My car is the "CE" model (which looks much better in my opinion).

LS shape = EVO VII, CE shape = actually i don't think there was an evo made in this shape, the EVO VI was still the CC shape i think....

The LS has a 2.0 motor, the CE has either 1.5 or 1.8 depending on the model. (mines the 1.8)

Hmm now that i've been thinking about it... i dunno if the EVO 6 is the CC shape or the CE.... If it is classed as the CE shape then there is 2 versions of the CE shape.... the front being pretty much the same, but the boot & tailights are different.... The EVO6's have pretty much a flat boot & tailights, with a section set back right along the back for the number plate. Where as my model lancer has the more contoured back & tailights with just a rectangle set back for the numberplate....

Anyways, heres a pic showing the back of my lancer, i'm sure most people would be familiar with an evo6 etc.....

what size tire is on the car now that would help me answer your question ..... the comparison between your car and an EVO is interesting but, we didn't even get the EVO over here yet the new maodel arrives either next month or late this month

Luke, the car comes stock with 14x5.5 rims, & 185/65r14 tyres...

But, yeh, i've been told that to stick with australian guidelines 7inch wide is all i can go... Which basically leaves me with 17x7, cuz i havent seen many 18x7's... The 17's should still look nice (if the wheels ever end up getting here!).

What would be the correct tyre size for the 17x7's? 205/40r17?

edit: corrected stock tyre size.

the 185/65-14 is 23.5" tall and the 205/40-17 is also 23.5" tall .... definitely the correct tire size ....

Thanks for confirming that for me...

Can you tell me what forumala you use to get the total diameter? Cuz i made up a spreadsheet to try to work out what wheels & tyres would stay within australian regulations. And when i was comparing 205/40r17 to 185/65r14 i was getting a small different in diameter... I think it was about 13mm (1/2 inch)... Probably just a matter of me not getting the correct value for converting inch's to mm's (1inch = ~25.4mm doesn't it?)

Hmmm i think i just realized where my calculations went wrong on the spreadsheet i designed... I think i only included the sidewall once.... Currently at work so i'll have to check that out when i get home....

This is just a follow up to the previous picture i posted on the back view of my car... This is the back of the evo6 lancer...

Its still got my baffled as to why they didn't adopt the newer shape (like my non-evo) for the evo6...
