Chances are you do not have a block heater. Very few dealers order block heaters for their gasonle engines. Some dealers in Canada, Alaska and extreme northern parts of northern states do on occasion. You would have to take the vin to a dealer and get a printout to determine if you have a block heater- odds say you don't.
A block heater is a great item and it would be great if dealers included this $35 option. Some experts state that even in southern states block heaters are a great idea because the oil flows so much better when warm that it would reduce wear and tear on internal parts when a engine is first started.
A company out of Wisconsin makes aftermarket magnetic oil pan heaters that they claim work great- these can be found easily on a google search and even Amazon sells them.

Depends on the year, block heaters were not a dealer option until 2000. He's from B.C. And if his Bravada is 2000 or later, odds are he has a block heater.
Those Canuks require at least a 200 amp electrical service on the smallest of homes to accommodate 2 block heaters and I bet a lot of Americans are wishing they had both right now.
