I have a 93 Cavalier 2.2L automatic with 50,000 miles. I have a couple issues and maybe someone can point me in the right direction.
1.) It was -6 outside and my heater decided it didnt feel like working anymore. The blower only blows when it feels like it. The other day I was driving and hit a bump and it started blowing again, then it stopped again. I'm guessing its a bad connection somewhere, and I'm trying to avoid replacing the blower motor at all costs.
2.) When the blower does work it is not warm. The temp gauge shows that the car is running around 130. Is this just a faulty thermostat that needs replaced? Maybe it is stuck open and not letting the engine warm up? And is there any special procedures to replacing coolant on these cars; bleeder valves etc.
3.) When I am idling in drive at a light or traffic or whatever, the car starts to vibrate really bad and it seems like it originates on the front passenger side. When I start moving again it goes away immediately, or if I put one foot on the brake and the other one lightly on the gas it goes away. The vibration is also reduced if I put the car in neutral when I'm stopped.
Thanks for any help, I really appreciate it.

1- sounds like the blower motor is bad... check and see if it has power to it when it's not working
2- the thermostat is bad, it's possible you also have a partialy plugged heater core too, but start with the thermostat, and flush the coolant if it's dirty or more than 2 years old.
3- how long since a tuneup?

If it is the blower motor, is it fairly easily fix, and about how much for the part?

You're looking at 50 to 100 dollars tops. If you go to a junk yard on half off day you could spend like 20 to 30 bucks. I had the same problem in my Beretta. It's fairly easy to replace if you know what you're doing, but I'm sure you have to remove the dash and get to work. There are some tutorials online if you look right. If I find some links I will help you out.

Your blower motor is under the hood, right hand side, on the firewall. Your vibration could possibly be a bad motor mount or it may be running rough and need a tune up. It's kind of hard to say without seeing it and hearing it.

Yeah, I bought new plugs and wires for it. I replaced the wires, but I couldnt find my spark plug gap tool, so I had to run out and get a new one. The wires didnt make a difference at all, so hopefully its the plugs.

If anyone finds a tutorial on replacing a blower motor, can you please post it. I havent had a chance to look at that yet, but I need pointed in the right direction before I can even start. Some people told me its under the dash in the passenger foot well. and others told me under the hood on the firewall on the passenger side. I personally thought it was on the firewall under the hood. Thanks for the help so far.

Replaced the plugs and wires, and its still shaky. Guess its probably a motor mount, right?

It's a possibility, would have to closing inspect the motor mounts for cracks, seperation, etc.

Okay, definitely gonna have to wait for some warmer days to do that.

Take a look at the cap and rotor for excessive oxidation of the terminals. They can become pretty encrusted and prevent good spark from being generated. Also check that the plugs are cleaned and gapped correctly. And don't use the Bosch +2, +4, or any platinum plug...they cannot be gapped correctly and thus will not provide the longevity you expect. Finally, check and clean the IAC, EGR, and PCV valves. Sticking or plugged valves can affect idle.

But don't spend too much time looking for those components on this D.I.S. engine.
