2001 T&C Power Control Module

The PCM (Power Control Module) looks to be a rather easy remove & replace since it sets beside the battery. If replaced, does anyone know if the new PCM is pre-programmed? Or does it have to be programmed by the dealer? I would rather replace it myself and save the labor costs of a dealer. But I can't find info if it would have to be programmed or comes programmed out of the box. Anyone know the facts? Any Chrysler techs that know the black-and-white?

if you have a gray key, you also need the skim code. If not you need to find a scanner that can program the vin into the pcm....

So, the new PCM would have to be programmed to operate the vehicle? I guess that means this is a dealer operation? I do have a gray key. What is a skim code? Where can it be found? And how would I go about making the PCM operable?

The SKIM code for your key is available at the dealer, also, on 01 PCM's it is only necessary to program the VIN into the PCM the software is allready there, unlike the newer NGC Controllers that come unprogrammed.

So, bottom line, if I purchase the PCM and replace it at home, will the van operate until I get the dealer to program the VIN into the PCM? Or will the VIN have to be programmed first in order for the van to be operable? Mine's not dead. But I might have a faulty voltage regulator, which is part of the PCM. Of course, I'll probably wait until it totally fails before I make a move. Thanks for the time.

I don't think it will even start, or if it does for 5-10 secs then die out
