eModels UK!

I just got a problem with a UK based model shop called eModels.
I ordered this last Friday two 1:12 kits and one 1:24 kit from them for 200 euros + 28 euros shipping (which I deemed OK for insured shipping). All items were in stock when I placed my order!

They just let me know that they can't "locate" the 1:24 and the 1:12 model in their store so they only dispatched one 1:12 model, with a shipping charge of 28 Euros which is equivalent with stealing.

If they would have asked before they go ahead I would have no thanks, keep it for yourselves.

Can anyone tell me where can I fill a complaint for UK based shops, cause that's what I'll be doing as soon as I get hold of the information I need.

If you bought it with a credit card, then call the credit card company, and file a fraud claim on the shipping charge.

If you bought it with a credit card, then call the credit card company, and file a fraud claim on the shipping charge.

I paid with PayPal and I'm waiting to see what the shop will answer to my email.

I can't claim there is a fraud with shipping charges, maybe they do pay what they ask for. It's just that I wouldn't have bought a kit with 28 euros of shipping charges but they managed to put me in this situation without asking me.

Here's a part of their first message:

I just wanted to inform you that we were unable to locate the following item's in our warehouse.

Fujimi 1/24 Porsche 911 Carrera RS 3.0 74 # 08209
Tamiya 1/12 Porsche 935 Martini with Photo Etched parts # 12038

To avoid any disappointment! I have edited your order and despatched the remaining item's to you ASAP.

We only take payment when the goods are ready for despatch so you have only been charged for what you are going to receive.

If you still require the ammended items please re-order again online. This will be treated as a new order.

So in fact if the remaining items will be found in their warehouse and I'll still want to get them than I'll have to pay another 28 euros shipping charges, not to mention that they will probably not find one of them again.

I saw that too. :(
I've got the impression that it will be tough to get an answer from them.
After I complained yesterday I got a message from them today that is just saying that my order is now with Royal Mail! So effectively they don't even bother to answer my questions.

No need to apologise/apologize (that can be spelt 2 ways as well) for the spelling. You can spell it either way, although dispatch is the most common. It's just like the colour/color spelling.. both are correct.
If you want to be 100% grammatically perfect it's "their" shipping, not "there" shipping :evillol:
Glad you got the problem sorted :)

Not in the UK they're not. One's a US spelling which makes it just wrong :nono:. It's a slippery slope, we'll be saying "thru" is okay next. :grinyes:

Yes, I know because I am from the UK so I use colour not color, but neither is actually wrong...

True - they're both right, depending on where you are. "Colour" is correct in the U.K., but it's incorrect in the U.S., and vice versa. On an international forum like this one, it seems easiest and best to stick with the rules of your homeland.

In the United States, two-letter abbreviations take periods, so "U.S." is correct but "US" is not. "USA" is okay, so are FBI, CIA and even IRS! I don't know how abbreviations are viewed in the United Kingdom; I do see "UK" a lot, so I assume it's okay.

A few punctuation rules are also different. For example, periods (stops) and commas are enclosed by quote marks in the U.S., but not in the U.K., where the poor things are left out there to fend for themselves. We in the U.S. only use single quote marks for quotes within quotes; I'm not sure of the U.K. rules.

Grammar and punctuation are like modeling; some of us are sticklers for accuracy and correctness; some think anything goes. My background is in advertising and journalism; as you may have guessed, I am not in the anything goes camp. I have to admit I'm really annoyed by sloppy grammar and punctuation if the writer is a native English speaker. On the other hand, I think we need to be tolerant of people who are struggling with a new language.

What difference do grammar, spelling and punctuation make? Well, no publisher would print a book with bad GS & P. The writer would not be respected; readers would feel insulted and refuse to buy the book.

That's right, and I'll take this chance to say thanks for solving this misunderstanding. :)
