1991 Ranger Dash lights out (half of them)

How bad is it to get to eth instrument cluster on a 1991. The right half of my instrument cluster lighting is out. I looked at some sutff tonight and it looks as though I have to take to stupid dash apart just to change the intrumwent cluster lamps. Did Ford really make this job this "stupidly" difficult, or is there a trick someone can share?
