1999 cavalier manuel trans question

Hi, Have a 1999 cavalier which when put into drive sits for approx 10-20 seconds before manuel transmission engages and moves.Runs great,starts great no other issues with car.We've owned this approximately 5 years and its done this the whole time. It's worse if its cold outside but other than that hasn't changed at all- We've changed the appropriate filters and have had it checked by trans mechanics who tell us it's just the way the transmission runs but that seems far fetched any ideas? I wouldn't call that normal no... But the Isuzu trans thats in your car is the bottom of the line in cavaliers/sunfires... In 2000 GM replaces those POS's with the German Getrag F23.

You might want to look into a faling Slave/TOB which is Inside the trans bell housing. The pressure plate and disc should grab as soon as you let off the clutch pedal.
