cant get out of park

01 quad cab 3.9 auto. backed out of garage and turned truck off. came out a few mins later started truck but cant get it out of park. HELP!!!!!!!!! PLEASE:mad: :mad:

they use a shift cable with plastic end. make sure that it didnt come off under the dash right above the gas or on the left side of the tranny. mine got stuck in gear when it broke. make sure the plastic piece is snapped in right too. if it is broke i fixed my piece where it snaps in with a hose clamp. it cost about 75 bucks for a new one. its a dealer item only. check this first if not i may have a couple more ideas.

Turns out that there is a little lever in the steering column at the end of the shift lever. Pulled the shift lever cover off and pushed the little lever back and was able to get out of park.
