Avalon Wheel Stud Replacement

I'm needing to replace the front wheel studs. I have the caliper and rotor off and have banged out the old studs. It looks like if you can turn the hub, you can slide the stud in from the back, but the hub does not turn. Is there a way to turn the hub? If not, how do I get it off? There is a 30mm or 32mm nut holding it on, is it also pressfit? Can I pull the hub off myself and then bang the studs in from the backside?

Put the transmission in neutral?
Pull the lugs through with the wheel (or washers) and the lug nuts.

I ended up figuring out the neutral trick, but had already taken off the caliper, so had to put that back on, then take off again. The studs I banged out by turning them each at a time to the clear space in the back plate that looks to have been put there for that purpose, also how I slid the new ones in. A huge pain was holding the hub still while I cranked down to pull the studs in, the hub wants to turn. I did not feel good about re-engaging the transmission to prevent this. Any way around this? Some kind of T handle might have worked? Would have also been nice to have had good hard washers of the right size (12mm) to put under the lug nut I used to draw the studs out.
