Carburetor Flooding Engine

This one has me stumped so I'm posting on here to see if anyone has an idea. I have a 1600, single port with a Solex Pic 30 carb attached. I am experiencing flooding AFTER I shut down the engine. I have noticed fuel draining from the bowl from the main jet above the throttle plate. It seems that this continues till the fuel level is drained from the bowl till it reaches a level low as to not seep up anymore. The engine floods and takes some effort to start. I've completely rebuilt the carburetor, blown out all tubes and jets with compressed air and carefully adjusted the mixture and idle. Still once I turn off the engine the fuel dribbles down the throat of the carburetor. Has anyone experienced this or have any suggestions?

Check the idle cut off solenoid. It sounds like it's not working, or wired wrong.

Thanks for the suggestion but I already checked the solenoid and it works fine. The fuel is not discharging from that area but rather the discharge arm that is on top controlled by the air correction jet and emulsion tube.

DId ya set the float or adjust it? THe shut off needle tends to get stuck via dirt or age.. Who knows with the crap that is in gas nowadays. Might be a build up of gummy stuff in the float shutoff needle valve. I always take apart brand new carbs and make sure the float is set and working right. You never know how long that carb has sat waiting for you to buy it. I know you weren't talking about a new carb.,but same principle..

hi. I have a 1200 beetle and its doing the same thing. when i turned off last time i removed the top of the carb and it still dribbled fuel in . have fitted a rebuild kit and new shaft bushes. passed mot yesterday with good co reading ??????? got me beat at the mo ???????
