A horrible engine death

This is from another forum. You have to use the second link to see the photos...

Quoted in case the link's not working...
It seems I fed it BB's, you know like the ones you shoot from a bb gun. I just did a very through and careful (1990 model) timing belt 60K service (has 181K on it). I carefully laid each engine part on my workbench as I took it off. Some how a rubber bb loader full of BB's fell into the intake hoses and hid there. I reassembled everything and drove for four days. Then it happened, the throttle got stuck on. RPM's went up close to 8000 when I turned off the key. As I coasted to a stop I heard thuds from the engine, and after I stopped, the engine would no longer turn over. Once home, after a tow, I removed the intake hoses and found the bb loader stuck on the throttle plate and about 30 bb's missing as well as the rubber end cap. One spark plug is broken and all four have small dents in them.
So, ya think I'm SOL?? The head's coming off now...
(from my post below)
Seems I'm not so lucky today !!!
The pistons are heavily impaled with BB's and so is the head. Many are pressed into the pistons and the head as well. The only good news is the block looks ok, but with 183K, I don't think it's worth repairing. So I'll be looking for another engine.
(another description of what happened)
The intake hose is on the workbench, openings facing up. In a cabinet above the work surface is a rubber tube full of BB's, used to speed load them into a BB pistol. While cutting a bolt for a pulley remover (to aid in removing the crank timing belt gear) the bench was shaken a bit. The rubber tube full of BB's falls into the intake tube and wedges inside. The engine is reassembled and the intake hoses are put back on. Four days later under heavy acceleration the rubber pack of BB's breaks free and travels to the throttle plate where it wedges in, holding the plate open. I pump the gas to try to get it to release, since it stuck near full throttle, and the end cap comes off the tube of BB's. The engine is still racing and sucks the BB's into the combustion chamber. No more engine!

So I guess you've been dumping BBs in your engine for years, then?

I didn't, because I told Kris about it on AIM, and he said it was already old news before I'd heard about it, and I knew Kris would use that pic on me :D:D
