i got a 93 f150 ext. cb 4.9l 5spd, 4x4. i had found out that i had a broken motor mount so i replaced the trans mount first like 2 wks befor i did the motor mounts. so i then replaced the motor mounts the pass. side 1 was broken. then like a couple weeks later the drivers side motor mount went so i took it back and got a new one for no charge and then now i got a trans mount that broke. i suspect that this is the clikcing noise that i thought was a u joint. why am i going through these mounts so quick? i do down shift but not as much as i did. i did down shift at really high rpms but now im doing good at 2000rpm when i down shift. i only really down shift now when im getting onto an interchange ramp or exit ramp on the high way. i do have snow here and i give it gas somethimnes in first gear and then it really jerks when ihit the dry pavement. i have stoped doing that as much as i did.

Google:"Thermal dynamic properties of vulcanized substances", or take an "Applied Physics" course or if your rear bumper really is 450 lbs. it's time to start think'in out of the sandbag" and buy a set of studded tires. Or start investing in Autozone stock and O'de Burnt clutch aftershave probably is a little hard to find but keep looking.

This is a 15 year old truck. reading your post, it sounds like you have replaced all the motor & tranny mounts once.

You are not going through mounts; the folks that owned the truck for the last 15 years went thru the mounts.

You are only "going thru" the expense of replacing them.

well when i preplaced all the mounts everything was fine then oneday i was driveing and shifter was moving far and i check the mounts and the driverside had broken. then i had put a second new on on. i guess it could have just been a failed mount.

more than likely it was a bad mount you should have replaced a three at the same time
