Hello everybody here, I am having a issue with my 02 regal ls joseph abboud, Check engine light illuminates every now and then, scanned myself and had a PO412 obd II code, it says Secondary Air Injection System Switching Valve A Circuit Malfunction, what can I do to resolve this? The car is acting up horribly, I just did a tune up, iridium ac delco plugs and delphi wires. Please help me... Thank you...

Technically the P0412 DTC is an output driver integrity issue meaning it could be an issue with the PCM module, related wiring, or the control valve solenoid/relay electrical portion for the secondary air pump system.

I also did some research on this dilemna, it said that because of the high humidity and freezing situations, that it was possible that the check valve is allowing water into the air pump and then freezing, I can hear a hissing sound when the rpms are at or around 3500, what could I do to resolve this? Thank You. Frank

The A.I.R. pump is located in the driver's side front wheel well area, and is subjected to water intrusion. In the winter, with the salt on the roads, it can get doused with salt/snow and cause corrosion of the electrical connectors, as well as that same salt/snow to get in the pump itself, then re-freeze causing this code.

Thank you for all the help, It was kinda weird seeing the only green relay in my power distribution center, also that pump was easy as hell to get out, wouldve been even easier if my brother didnt crack the old housing to put on the new pump which was 104.98 now i have ordered the whole assembly, will let know how everything goes on monday. Thanks again...

I tested the air pump and it was functional, I also replaced the air pump relay still no difference, from my understanding it says in the definition that it is valve A, if so where is this located and can it be tested or do I just replace, thank you again for all of your cooperation. Frank

Since the A.I.R. pump is not frozen/locked up (which would cause a short circuit), I believe your issue is in the wiring between the A.I.R pump and PCM. This code is set if the PCM detects an open circuit (blown fuse/broken wire), short to ground or short to battery voltage (power supply wire rubbed through on frame somewhere). Looks like you have some fun wiring tracing to do.
