Seat cover?

The truck just unloaded my "new to me" Panoz from Dave at Hookedonracing. Tha car looks like its going to be a ball tracking. The car is missing the seat covers that look like they attach to the seats with velcro. Does anyone have a set they want to let go, or know of a source for the covers? I can't wait for my first track day to see how it compares to tracking my Cobra.

Hey Paul, good to see you are on the forum. Are they Sparco seats? If so, give them a try http://www.sparcousa.com/seats.asp. I'm running really low pads on the drivers side. I'm 6'2". My son is a tiny bit shorter in the torso and likes the thicker set in order to see over the looong hood. Your right, they velcro in and are easily interchangeable. When are you scheduled to run?

Hi Uwe
Thanks for the source on the seat covers, I'll check them out tomorrow. The car looks great for a track car.
There is quite a different finish look between my FFR Cobra and the Panoz. The Cobra looks like a show car, the PAnoz looks like a track car, solid and not fancy, but built to cover laps with a school driver. One thing is the clutch force required. My Cobra has an easy push, but I installed a clutch fork extension bar, a Forte cable and quadrant, and as a result, the Cobra force is as easy as my wifes Audi TT. So I need to do a little clutch cable R&R before the first event, but that will be quick.

I had the same impression when I first drove the car. In fact I had a clutch cable fail (see earlier post). I replaced it and dialed in the adjustment (procedure is in the Panoz manual). I have now come to like the stiff pedal. You won't even notice it at the track. Now when I drive my 996 turbo, I feel that "it" is too soft. Try to get used to it before you decide to change it. It fits the overall character and feel of the car. BTW, yours feels exactly like mine-I drove your car for a couple of sessions in Dec.

Paul,

Congrats on the new ride and welcome. The seat don't have covers they have removable cushions to adjust the driver hight in the seat. Thin ones for tall drivers and fat ones for short drivers. Another source for these would be Panoz. I spoke to Gary Jones the other day and he said that Panoz still had a lot of parts left over.

Your correct these cars are a blast to drive. I like you tracked a FFR for several years. Your going to be disapointd with the power but the high speed corners will more than make up for lack of power. Don't worry about the clutch stiffness you will get used to it very quickly.

Welcome

David

Go for broke and get a new seat with the halo.....
But on another note - welcome to the club! They are a blast to track.
