Hatch w/ LS Swap

I bought a 92 SI a few days ago and it already has an LS swap. The guy I bought it from put an MSD ignition and blaster coil on it, and advanced the timing also. He told me I should only put 93+ octane fuel in it, b/c of the advanced timing, etc. but if I was to retard the timing a bit I could use a lesser octane. Should I only use Super in it, or do you guys think it is safe to use Premium too, b/c gas is REALLY expensive and this bad boy guzzles it!

The only thing I would put low grade gasoline in is my lawnmower.

set the timing to 0 degrees and run 91 octane

something has to be wrong if it guzzles it, I have had an integra before

94 rs with the same engine you are talking about (B18B) you masy have the B18A but i dont know, anyways, the I/H/E cou;ld have done it but i was on the gas all the time and still got great mileage.

I found out that the o2 sensor is not connected, the wires have been cut. Could this be the reason for the horrible gas mileage? Also, how would I go about reconnecting the sensor, is it just a plug-and-play type deal or do I have to do a lot of work to get it where it needs to go? Thanks a lot guys!

Yes that could be y because the O2 sensor I hear changes how much fuel is sent to the motor if its not connect then the ecu will send a preset amount of fuel which would cause u to run a little rich.

the o2 snesor reads yor exhaust gases and tell the ecu how much fuel to pump,hense poor gas milage, if its not hooked up it will go back to either a preset amount or on some cars it will go back to the amount it was at when it last worked. so if it teh o2 died at startup,good chance your gonna run rich,on the highway at full warm, could run lean.
as for the octance you should use, set your timing to 0 (i believe 14degrees) and run manufactures rec. which is midgrade on that motor i believe. higher octance gas isnt needed on a basically stock honda motor. its harder to burn higher octance fuel, which isnt needed for a 1.8 motor that is stock.
