I just purchased a 71 Nova SS with a ZZZ engine, I need some info but seems to be hard to find. I am particulary interested in yr of mfg.,comp. ratio, horse power, timing specs, etc. where should I look for ID numbers's.

I don't know if this applies to the engine you have but older chevy engines had a flat machined surface on the ( drivers side ) back side of the engine block where the bell housing attaches to the engine . The numbers stamped into this pad would be used on the before mentioned web site to decipher the engine info . Hope this helps ! Good luck and let us know if you find what you're looking for .
