Hey, all! Have a 95 cutlass with the same overheat engine-no heat cab problem. New thermostat-it's okay. Radiator flush-clean and fresh. how can I determine if it's the water pump or the heater core. (Don't know an air filter from a carberator-please type slowly) Thanks!

Since you said there is a new thermostat and radiator flush, Professionally ?, that the thermostat was removed for the flush service. This should have included the heater core ? Is there a coolant smell in the cabin, film on the windshield or right side floor board wet ? All of which would indicate a heater core problem. Are you loosing coolant ? Any puddles of coolant under the vehicle in the area of the water pump ? Is there any type of unusual noise coming from the pump area ? Has the pump ever been replaced.
I have had one instance where we had an over heating problem and could find nothing wrong. Finally pulled the pump just because and lo and behold not a single vane left on the impeller.
Just curious.

Yes, the stuff was done by pros-I'm lucky to find the correct end of the wrench! Dunno about the water pump. There's no coolant leak-tighter than a cow's nose in fly season! I'll have them check for busted vanes, and thanks so much for your help! Staci
