Exhaust Painting Help

Hi Guys,

Im pretty new around, im just finishing my 1st model now and have seen some really nice painting on the exhaust's etc. with the blue/gold looking finish.

Can some one point me in the right direction to achieve this look. I read somewhere about using Clear Orange/Blue paint with some purple but not sure on the process or correct colors

use the search button and look for threads relating to the subject, I do believe there are alot of good ones!

using clear blue, orange, red & smoke along with some other little tricks I've read in the threads.

MPWR has some great advice on staining the exhaust as does 360spider who has a whole tutorial section on various aspects of model building.

clear blue are on the bend on the exhaust then clear yellow/orange or goldafter the blue, just put clear yellow on fading effect over the blue...
and blue color on the exhaust tips!
here's the most easiest thing to do! dry brushing!
1st get an old brush.. on your enamel paint,dip your brush little bit then wipe the brush and the paint on it, making the brush dry with little paint on it.
2nd, stroke your brush on the model giving it a light effect..then its up to you to balance the color!
hope this will you! and just try to look on this on the net "dry brushing"

Thanks for your help guys now i know the correct term im trying to do "Dry brushing" i can search for the answers

i just tried myself for the 1st time using clear orange, then clear blue and lastly clear purple on my exhaust, looks ok :)

About 3/4 way down the page you will find videos for using the Tamiya Weathering kit for heat staining. A very good, economical and effective set that will last you a looooong time.

The set is a good way to start and is very easy to work with. It can produce very good results from light staining to hard core burning :D.

I found this tutorial on exhaust painting while I was searching for a tutorial on connecting electronic plug (other thread). Although in this particular tutorial the painting was done on 1:12 bike exhaust, the same technique can be adapted to cars (of course, with less complicated soldering pattern :icon16:).
