I have an 89 nissan pathfinder and it is in great condition but the only problem I have with I is when I am going above around 65 MPH or just Accelerating fast it gets this shimmy and starts shaking. The shimmy gets progressively worse untill you release the gas pedal and let it coast till it gets normal again. Does anyone have any ideas as to what is causing this or how to fix it?

Bad tires... guaranteed. Pathy's eat them up. Check to see if they are checked (worn unevenly) High and low spots on the tread blocks. try rebalancing and rotating. Rear tires wear flat, fronts wear uneven.

Actually I would recomend you check your front struts /or shocks if you have an earlier model
>When the shock/strut is faulty it fails to push the tire to the road surface and the tire begins to rebound which feels like a shimmy while sriving...
Good luck!!!!!!!

(I did the same thing, I roatted tires and "thought" it went away, but after it fully runied my tires I found it was also the Struts, it is actually a very dangerous condition, as you can loose control of the vehicle)

since my prob is similar I thought i'd just bump this thread.
When I bought my tk the front tires were pretty badly cupped. I thought maybe something was wrong with the front suspention but nothing seems to be loose. I did rotate my tires and that helped with the shakin' but the it still seems like the front end is high and the tires lean out a bit. I am about to put in new shocks all around but was wandering if there is somthing I might have missed. Then a new set of MTs and off we go. Thanks for any help.
