The anti-theft thing on my car put in by the manufacturer wacked out yesterday and now i cant get my car started at all. I heard that there is some way to bypass the passlock or something...can someone explain to me how i can fix this? i have a 3 week old daughter so it is pretty important for me to not have my car do this again!

I work for a dealership, and the older focus's tend to get a mold/corrosion growth on the back of the instrument panels that can get all kind of odd problems. The PATS (anti-theft) is in the instrument panel. pull the instrument panel, and see if there is any mold/corrosion on the back. There is a TSB about it. As far as something to bypass the PATS function, anyone who knows that has to sell thier soul to FORD to NOT tell it. Besides, It will only work 3 times before the ECM has to be re-flashed by a dealership.
Unfortunately, If there isnt anything behind the IP, you are at the mercy of a dealership to fix it....it sucks, but that's the only way the manufactuer specific codes can get read. and GM/Chrysler/ anyone else has the same things now...
