2001 Indy 500 Pace Vehicle

Hello folks. I picked up the '02 Bravada Indy 500 pace vehicle sold by GM at Barrett-Jackson on Friday (1/16). It is #2 (at this point I'm not sure exactly how many GM prepared for race day use) and was the back up to #1 which was driven by Elaine Irwin-Mellencamp to start the race.

The truck has 695 miles on it, full working Whelan strobe package and minor performance modifcations to the Vortec 4200 under the hood (according to the GM description provided). I'll start researching the truck a bit more when I get back to my home in the Dallas area following the auction's end today.

If any of you have any more detail on the actual pace trucks (I know there were several white 500 Festival Bravadas used by IMS, media, and 500 Festival Parade committee members too), I'd appreciate it if you'd post what you know or send me a PM. I've read all of the online press releases, detail at http://www.indypacecars.com/2001.html, etc. already, so I have the basic stuff documented.

Wow, I didn't know there was a Bravada Pace Car!!!

NHRA had a bunch of Bravada courtesy cars back in the 90's when Olds was involved in NHRA Drag Racing but i don't know what happened to any of those cars either.

sweet truck. don't know about 2001 but the other years only 50 were built. 127 mph stock, 0-60 in 7.2. yours was tweaked to go 140 and in Texas you might be able to see if it does that. Vid of it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H1WYVrFRbZc
