2002 Buick Century transaxle problem

My 2002 Buick Century has a 4speed automatic transaxle. It has 80,000 miles on it. I had to change an axle with a dry worn out c.v. joint on the drivers side. While changing the axle I noted that the axle shaft was loose in the transaxle, maybe a 1/16th inch side to side movement. There is no fluid leaking. My question is can the output shaft bearing be changed without removing the transaxle or does the unit have to be rebuilt. Other than the vibration and a low wobbly noise the transmission works fine. Thanks for any help you can give. John

I have got a 1990 century w/th-125 trans that has the same issues. Previous owner slid it into a curb on pass side. The pass front makes severe noise and vibrations. If I turn right so that less of the vehicle weight is on that particular wheel, the noise and vibration significantly reduces. I have replaced the tierod, cv shaft, struts and alignment. I have been wondering the same thing if there is a bearing or bushing that I can replace.
Thanks
