I have a 94 Cutlas Ciera, it seems to run on the hot side but not to the point of overheating. I know normal op. temp is b/t 180-200 but this is always around 220+, and the heater will blow you out the car its so hot. this is the story bought it for five hundo. leaking coolant, found line going into intake from heatercore leaking, replaced that, no more leaks, but still overheating even after bleeding air from sytem numerous times, then i thought possibly thermostat stuck closed but that was not it either, nor was the waterpump, or the radiator, or the temp sensor, or the fan. seems i have replaced everything in the system except the lower intake gasket and head gaskets, but there is no sign of leakage, not using any coolant and doesnt smell coming from exhaust. Also it seems to actually get hotter going down the highway than at idle, when it should be the other way around with cool air passing through radiator. Any opinions please feel free to let me know. Thanks

It is not uncommon for older GM's like yours to run in the 220's. GM dosen't even turn on the fans until it hits at least 220 degrees. IMO, there is nothing wrong with your vehicle running at this temp at idle.

Its a 3100 v6, I know that 220 is ok but still its increasing very close to red on gauge while driving down highway and drops down to around 220 at idle. Wierd, i will just keep driving it if something happens it happens, this thing is becoming a money pit. thanks for replies
