Changing Fuel Filter 2005 LaCrosse

I did search this topic before posting and did not find anything.
I have a 2005 3.8 Ltr LaCrosse with about 38k on it.
I do not have a service manual, just the owner's manual.
I am wondering if it isn't time to change the fuel filter?
It is not listed on the Scheduled Maintenance and the additional required services only mentions to inspect fuel system for damage or leaks. I can not find where/when to change the fuel filter.

Also, where is the fuel filter?

Is this something I can attempt to change?

Assuming it's not in the gas tank on this vehicle, I assume if I can locate it under the body I should be able to change it.
-What are the steps?

The LaCrosse is not supposed to have a serviceable fuel filter. Just a strainer located with the fuel pump assembly/pod. None of my Delco parts references show a replaceable fuel filter like previous GM cars. Also, GM redesigned the fuel supply system for the SIII 3800 engine where it is a pressure feed only to the fuel injection system and no return line back to the gas tank.

Ditto on above--

No serviceable fuel filter to change- intent is to only change when fuel pump is changed- it is inside the tank

So one less thing to worry about.....

Well I have a question then, is there an access thru the trunk floor or does the tank have to be dropped in order to change the pump/filter ?

Most late models GM cars like the LaCrosse's predecessor ('97 and up Regal/Century) have an access panel located in the trunk right behind the area of the rear passenger seat. So the best thing to do is remove or set aside the trunk carpeting and take a look. The fuel pump pod in GM cars with the access panel removes up and out so the gas tank does not need to be dropped.
