98 Ford Escort 2.0 SOHV

Hello,

I have a 98 Ford Escort 2.0 SOHV.

1. I noticed in my crank case vent tube two holes (appear to have melted causing the holes), one above the PCV valve and one hole below the valve.

What could have caused this?

2. Before I noticed the above, I cleaned out my throttle body, and I noticed a build up of carbon just inside of my housing of the intake manifold (the little hole that goes toward the EGR valve).

Now since I cleaned the carbon, my throttle body, and the egr valve, the car is idling high, and smoking heavily when I turn on my car, HELP!!

Replace your PCV valve and have your EGR checked. Sounds to me as if the EGR is not working properly... probably a bad diaphragm not holding vacuum. Just a guess...

Did you replace the crankcase vent tube or get the holes in it covered up?
If the PCV valve is stuck open it will pull crankcase gases and oil out of the engine and direct back through the intake to be burned. I suspect this is why it is smoking and idling too high. So take mightymoose 22's advice and replace the PCV valve.
