Another Power Window Thread, I did a search, please hear me out

For a 96 cav, I'm very new to automotive tinkerings. I read a bunch of threads about replacing the window motor, but I'm too cheap to buy another motor right now, I just want the window to pull up so that I don't get rained on.

I was able to get the door panel off, I see the window attached to some straight piece of metal attached to the motor, I try pulling up the window from the bottom, but it's like the motor is locked and it won't let me pull any farther. Any advice?
