Blend Door Actuator Access 97 Bravada

I need to access my blend door actuator motor. I've read the threads on the procedure but most refer to a 98. These posts say that the glove box can be hinged down. On my 97, the glove box compartment is welded (plastic) in place so I don't have access. Does anyone know if there is another way to get at the blend door motor on a 97 short of removing the entire dash?

I have a picture of the glove box but can't attach for some reason.

Thanks,
Scott

The service manual says the instrument panel has to be removed. You can follow the vacuum hoses from the temperature knob to the blend door.
