I took out the driver side seat today and im confused (on the 83), my driver side seat has a 6-way switch on the side, all the wiring is there, and is even getting a 12V feed, but it looks like the motor was removed. theres even the 2 connectors that would connect up to a motor. there is however a manual lever on the front of the seat as well to move it forward and back. did chevy put all the wiring and a switch on the seat even if the car wasnt equipped with a motor from the factory? if not whats the steps to put in a new motor? is it inside the actual seat or just mounted under it?

As you know i have the same car as you. My power seat works just fine though. the motor is mounted right under the seat not in it. Sounds like maybe the motor fried and someone just decided not to replace it?

It sounds like a previous owner removed the seat motors (or entire seat) and replaced the seat bracket/mount with a manual adjustment type. No way to ever know why.

yeah theres def no motor under it then, can the motors be put on with the manual bracket on or does the whole underside of the seat need to be changed?

I'm willing to bet that the brakets are already there since you said that the switches and everything else is there and all you gutta do is hook it up.
