I have a 2002 Monte Carlo SS and here's a little history...the car was a theft recovery. I'll admit I didn't check things out too well. All in all it's been a good car as far as mechanically. The car was obviously stripped though, it has doors from a 2000 Monte and the hood has been replaced you can tell. I don't know for sure, but am thinking that the seats might have been replaced as well.
Anyways a couple weeks ago I took it in to have a hinge replaced on the drivers side door cuz it was dragging a little bit. They fixed that and it works great now, but about 10 minutes after I pulled out of their parking lot, my airbag light came on and has been on since. I know some of them have the side airbags and I didn't know when they took the door off if something happened with a wire. I talked to them again and they don't think it is, but said it is possible but they don't have the tools to fix that. They are having me take it to someone they know to have it checked out but I can't get in til next week.
I'm just wondering if anyone knows anything about the airbags and if that could have happened from them taking the door off. My dad has a code reader but I wasn't sure if it would show a code or not for the airbag. Sorry this is so long but any help would be appreciated.

You need a special code reader/scanner for SIRS, Usually removing a door is not going to disturb anything with the air bag, to eliminate guess work, wait for a proper scan for the codes.
