2003 Silverado Seat memory

I have a 2003 Silverado 1500HD with the programmable seat positioning, radio stations, etc. and the two different key fobs.

I cannot seem to get the seat memory function to work correctly. I have set the seat the way that I want it, and tried to set the memory for position #1.

I then used the key fob for position #1, and that worked fine. I then locked the doors, and used key fob #2. The seat went all the way forward, and down. I then pushed the seat position #1 button (on the door), and the seat did not move. I also pushed the unlock button on key fob #1, and nothing happened.

I have tried this a couple of times, and each time that the second key fob is used the seat moves forward and down, and button #1 does not move the seat. The same thing happens if I bump the #2 button on the door. I bumped the button this morning while driving, and ended up with my knees under the dash, and my stomach in the steering wheel.

I cannot figure out if I am doing something wrong, of if there is a bad component.

Is there a way to trouble shoot this function?

In my '03 Silvie, the seat position for Driver 1 will go only went I put the key in the ignition and turn the truck on. Then when I take the key out it will go to the exit position, which is all the way back. It sounds like your driver 2 exit position is set all the way forward and down. Try setting the positions with the truck running on both driver 1 and driver 2 keys.

Other than that, I couldn't tell you how to trouble shoot a malfunction. How long have you had the truck?? Had it been working before?

I just reread your post. The 1 and 2 on the door mean driver 1 and driver 2 not postions. I think.

can't make mine work either. manual is VERY ambiguous on how to do it. and on the rest of the stuff either. guess, you have to be GM born to know how it all operates. :naughty:
fortunately, I am the only driver. but it's frustrating...
