The volt meter on my 95 GM runs pretty high all the time, and occasionally i can see a "fluder" in the headlights when stopping at stop sign and taking off again. The mechanic said I have too small of a battery in it (even though it's the one Wal-mart reccomends). could the size of the batt make alt work too hard? Meter only has "L" to "H". Needle stays close to "H". Thanks for any reply.

Is it a minimum of 850 Cold Cranking Amps? If it is running high on the gauge, check the voltage while it is running to confirm hi voltage or a bad gauge. It is possible the voltage regulator is on it's way out. It should be under 14.5 volts running. Usually from 13.5 to 14.2.

Thanks a lot for the quick reply WTO. That's a good idea to check the volts. I'll have parts store check it. Have a good weekend.
