I have a 2006 Buick Rainer. The drivers side door handle is now broken. It is loose with no tension and sloppy. I called my local Buick dealer and they said as follows: Could be the handle (Which cost 150 bucks :disappoin because they have to match the paint) or it could be a 10 dollar clip. There are not sure.

Basically has anyone here came across something like this or have any advice for repair.

Like: Take off door panel and if so what are the next steps
Or, whatever it takes to fix by the process of elimination, rather thatn buying the damn handle for that price

thanks so much in advance,

Chad

If the handle is sloppy, you probably need a new handle, but you need to remove the door panel and look first. Don't just assume that is the problem. The linkage may have just come loose. If you need a handle, you may want to try calling salvage yards. If they have a door that's damaged, but the handle's still good they'll probably sell it for half the cost or less.

I hadf the same problem. The handle was broken. In order to get into my car, I replace the handle with the handle from the rear drivers side, until I found a replacement handle on ebay.
