i got a 93 f150 4.9l 5spd 4x4. i am driving with the hubs locked ina dn on dry pavement i willl give it gas in first gear in 2wd and i hear a weird grinding type noise coming more from the drivers front end. i unlocked the hubs thinking that the 4x4 could be the problem. i unlocked them and it is still doing the same thing. any of you might now what this could be?

Have you checked the front wheel bearings?

i kind of explained it wrong. im going to check the bearings sometime soon. i have the hubs unlocked now. i have brand new motor mounts and trans. mount. there is snow on the ground now. i have bad tires. here is the new explination. i got the truck in first gear i give it gas and am spinning on the snow and when i hit the dry pavement the truck jerks and i hear a clicking noise. when i go around corners it will click more than it will do when i go straight. i sounst like i could be something to do with the suspension maybe.

( it sounds like a nut on a bolt and like your pulling the nut off the bolt right over the threads with out twisting the nut.)

With your new explaination I suspect it is the u joint on one of the axle shafts on the front end.

Go to this link: Online service manual, not perfect but is helpful.

i also thought of that. my friend had that done in his 94 f150 and it only cost him 121.00.
