Hesitation

Can bad spark plug wires cause hesitation at low rpm (due to arcing) but not at high rpm? I found out that spark plug wires that use a graphite impregnated polymer to transfer the electricity tend to lose their performance after a while as they begin to arc at low rpms. And i also found out that GM uses (or used) these in their cars. So if anyone can back this up that would mean the end of my engine troubles because i'm almost positive these wires are original.

Sounds like it may be a bad accelerator pump in the carb.

Thats probably unlikely cuz i had the carb rebuilt "the mechanic said it was in great condition to begin with too."

If accelerator pump is good, try checking the float level. :2cents:

I had a hesitation problem and what I did was disable the EGR...then the problem was gone...bought new EGR compared to old ..found that the EGR spring on old had less power...so it caused the engine to get too much NO...causing the hesitation....
with the EGR disabled the engine should ping slightly...
