Hi I have a 2001 ford f150 and I was wanting to instail a factory set of drivinglights and I have noticed that the wiring behind the bumper is there and the wiring is also behind the switch. Has anyone done this instail before and if so what will i need to do if I buy the correct factory headlight switch and drivinglights?

I have a '99, and the complete harness, fuse and relay were already in place. I picked up a factory fog/headlight switch, installed a pair of fogs, done. The switch is a straight forward swap. There is a way to mod the factory switch, but I choose the simpler plug-and-play route.

thank you for replying that is what I needed to know I'am getting ready to do the same. Everything it in place I just need to buy a headlight/drivinglight factory switch and use a factory set of driving lights that I already have.
Thanks

motion3174 I just got my truck out of storage and was going to install the factory driving lights that i have and for some reason i cant find the factory wiring i thought i seen this wiring under there before but i just cant find it. Was yours tucked out of the way somewhere? My truck didn't come with factory driving lights but i now have a Harley Davidson front end on the truck and want to use the factory Harley driving lights to complete the front of the truck. I'm almost positive the driving light plugs were there.

Mine were dangling at the front of the truck near the rad. Check your owners manual. If I recall, it does have fog light info, such as the fuse and relay location. Again, if I recall, the wires you're looking for might be easier to find from underneath.
As far as I know, all F-150s came with the harness in place. Mine didn't come with fogs, but I installed an STX valance, and fogs from an Explorer. Perfect fit, and the plugged directly into the harness.
I found some how-to pics on a site. I'll see if I can track them down.

I have been looking under there and cant seem to find them and the relay and the fuse isn't there either I wander if this was a change in 2001 that the wiring wasn't available unless equipped. I really though that i seen them under there before?

I'm searching for the original article I had found when I did my lights. I'm willing to bet Ford used the same harness from 97 up. I found this on another forum.

Thanks for all your help. I searched the headlight loom from the fuse box under the hood down the fender to the core support, back of headlight and down and across the core support to the passenger side headlight and no loom this truck must not be wired for fogs. I also own a 2003 f150 STX with factory fogs and the fog light loom on the drivers side is routed down from headlight with DRL plug and passenger side comes from the core support down from headlight loom and is routed down with the horn loom. My 2001 doesn't have any other wiring routed with those plugs so it looks like I have to scrap my idea and just go with the aftermarket fogs. Again thanks for your help.

My pleasure, although I really wasn't much help. Sorry it didn't work out for ya. I'll take a look under my hood , see how it's set up.
