So I just bought this blazer for pretty cheap. I test drove it and tried out the 4 wheel drive and it worked great. We drove it home on the freeway in 2wd and it was snowing pretty bad so after we got off the freeway the side roads were bad and i put it in 4hi. We drove to a friends house to show it off ;). Then we left and backed out of the 6 inch deep snow in 4wd. After driving some more i noticed the service 4wd light came on. So at a light i tried shifting into 2hi and it wouldn't do anything. So i continued home in 4hi and i noticed a nasty grinding noise coming from either the front end or the tcase i'm not sure which. I pulled over, turned the truck off and the service light was off so i switched into 2hi and drove home just fine. i got home and put it in auto 4wd to see if the problem would return and after a minute the light came back on. So after turning it off and back on i went to 2wd and that's where i left it. Now the next morning i drove it to work in 2wd and there is an occasional grinding sound coming from the front end i believe...i'm not sure. But I wonder if a hub is stuck engaged? or how does it lock the hubs? I've been looking at parts on ebay and noticed a front diff actuator could that be faulty and not disengaging it? Anyone had a problem like this? I'm frustrated that my new used blazer is having problems already!

Sometime cheap is not cheap.
Did you get a 90 day warranty?
Proper testing before throwing parts at it.
Have you checked fluid level?
Is the fluid the GM blue transfer case fluid.
Is fluid black or burnt.
They need service ever so often with thge proper fluid.
If the auto 4W codes can be read with a transfer case capable scanner.
Get codes and post back code no.
And we can help you.

Newer development...i got home from work and still here the noise from the front end. I'm pretty convinced it's the front and not the tcase...I pushed 4hi and 4lo i here the transfer case shift and the lights stop blinking in the right place. But the front tires don't engage...even in 4lo. So now the 4wd isn't working at all. but the transfer case does switch into low range it's just only the back tires pull.
