removing crank?

i have my engine(2.3 liter quad4 sohc) on an engine stand and im in the process of removing the crank. im trying to remove the pulley attached to the crank and appariantly the previous owner has done this before and put the pulley on with like 300lb of force or there is some kind trick i dont kow of. Is there any kind of special technique or tool i need to remove this pulley so i can then remove the time gear etc. to get to the crank? thanks any help will be much appreciated.

oh ok umm what i was trying to say was i cant get the bolt off the pulley to remove the pulley because i have a pulley puller. but i need to remove the bolt that holds it on there and right now im just using the biggest breaker bar i have a a socket that fits. is there something that could make it easier? because like i said its on there with like 300 ft-lbs of torque.

you need a good air impack they are tight. i don't know if auto zone rents them out but you could give them a call them because they rent them tools out.

breaker bar should do it and you can even put the pipe extension on the handle of your breakerbar so you have more force and just jam the flywheel good

They sell/rent a chain tool that wraps around the crank pulley and holds it while you loosen the bolt. Anyother means of holding the pulley could damage it.
The bolt should be torqued to around 180 FT Lbs.

Easiest way is to put the breaker bar on it- and push it up against the frame, or floor or something solid- and hit the starter (turn ignition switch to start) for a half second- works every time....

yeah brcidd, the OP said engine is on a stand already.

well i finally got it off. i put my other breaker bar in a whole in the flywheel, willing to sacrifice it, and broke it free and got the bolt and pulley off. now theres a bracket below it with three bolts in it attached to the timing chain cover giving me the same anount of difficulty and im starting to strip it. haha any hints? im at a loss

clean bolt heads and sockets or wrenches with brake cleaner to avoid striping their heads.
